In 2012, Joanna Paterson suffered a debilitating stroke but has nonetheless continued writing and painting, teaching herself to do so with her left hand. Celestial Lights continues her fascination for natural phenomena and was published to coincide with an event at the National Library of Scotland and in connection with Edinburgh's Storytelling Centre in late October 2016.
